About Me
I'm an Independent Education Consultant working in the field of Supportive Behaviour Management with The Life Skills Company, looking at supplementary approaches which focus on building relationships, self esteem and individuals' emotional intelligence, self-resolution techniques and independence.
The aim of this programme is to help schools steer in a slightly different direction with the aim of reducing exclusions, isolation and out of timetable time, whilst building relationships with students, understanding of strengths and struggles between different personalities and teaching and learning styles.
| The courses and advice I offer to schools and other organisations is very hands-on, based on over 17 years of experience of working in challenging environments.
Much of this experience came from working for 13 years in a complex special needs school, latterly as an Advanced Skills Teacher, where I, in conjunction with a team of professionals, developed an excellent supportive behaviour management system which is outlined on this site. This programme caters for students with complex difficulties ranging from mainstream emotionally challenged to those with learning difficulties and autism
This was developed in conjunction with CAMHS and Educational psychologists to provide the most suitable routes to follow
Most recently, I have worked for the Advisory Service, as an Advanced Skills Teacher, assisting schools in challenging circumstances to look at and implement a supportive approach to manage challenging students and reduce exclusions | This programme offers a range of outcomes which enables teachers to teach and students to learn.
It also gives students and teachers the tools with which to manage behaviour more appropriately.
It also enables students and teachers of all ages and backgrounds to build relationships and respect for themselves and each other, within a carefully defined yet flexible model which includes even the most challenging students © Mike Temple 2007
